I've got the following running now:

----[ SNIP ]----
[elko at ElkOS ~]$ uname -a
Linux ElkOS 2.4.10-ac12 #1 Wed Oct 17 19:40:47 CEST 2001 i686 unknown

[elko at ElkOS ~]$ cd src/linux/

[elko at ElkOS ~/src/linux]$ \ls -FC1
linux@
linux-2.4.10-ac12-default/
linux-2.4.10-ac12-preempt-stats/
linux-2.4.10.tar.bz2
patch-2.4.10-ac12
preempt-kernel-rml-2.4.10-ac12-1.patch
preempt-stats-rml-2.4.10-ac12-1.patch
top-latency.pl*
----[ SNIP ]----

patched with all of the above, I must say, it's running like
a charm, really !! scrolling goes much smoother on this box:

----[ SNIP ]----
[elko at ElkOS /proc]$ dmesg | grep proc;free -m
Detected 851.932 MHz processor.
total used free shared buffers cached
Mem: 564 320 243 0 18 161
-/+ buffers/cache: 140 423
Swap: 1533 0 1533
----[ SNIP ]----

and compiling a kernel only takes about 10-15 minutes now,
instead of 50 minutes, so that's Great Fun (tm) too !!

I'm so happy ;^)
