Not entirely - certain programs simply won't work properly without having the 
traditional device names. In most cases, it's trivial to change the source to 
use new names, but this doesn't work for binaries. As an example, some of the 
older Loki games look specifically for /dev/dsp. You can create symlinks 
manually, but it's easier to use devfsd...
