Sure.. i've been compiling X from scratch even before i got into LFS
(and it isn't all that hard a simple; make World && make install works
for the most part)
Not too long ago (LFS-2.2 era) it was even included in the HOWTO.
And there's an excellent Guide on installing X and if you want KDE2 in
And i've seen _manymany_ articles on website's, magazien's, etc going
into just enough detail to let you know it isn't all that hard.
Compiling packages from scratch... is it really that hard? if you just
completed LFS you have a very good understanding of what a standard
package install is like, you could read the README's, INSTALL,s which
usually go into wayyyy to much detail for the first time around but
don't stop there,
There are lots of resources available, if your trying to compile
something and it isn't working, drop everyone a line on lfs-apps,
between the good ~30 regular users that hang out on #LFS and so forth we
have compiled _alot_ of packages.
I dunno, i'm just saying... if it looks daubting and confusing, just
look what you did with LFS!
