Thanks!

That seems to have taken care of that problem. However, when I run ldconfig
I get:

warning: cant open /usr/lib/libstdc++-lib6.1-2.so.3 NO such file or
dirrectory

What does this mean?

Also, when attempting to issue the command /usr/X11R6/bin/startx I get the
error

cant find xinit

Yet, xinit is in the same directory as startx. hmmmmm

I think I had the same problem, and I just hadn't updated the dynamic
loader. /etc/ld.so.conf shoud contain a line /usr/X11R6/lib & then you need
to run ldconfig...
