I stumbled across one additional error while debugging the stupid icons
error...couldn't execute dbus-launch. A 3rd patch is in place for
testing, but I've beat it up pretty well at this point and can't find
any additional missing files.
Also, the icon problem is because gnome-icon-theme was installing into
the gnome directory instead of the hicolor dir as it used to....haven't
looked into that just yet, but a symlink in
/usr/share/icons/gnome->hicolor should fix the icons in the interim.
Going back to work on that now as well.
