And the fix is simple, but where/how exactly is PYTHONPATH set? I have
done nothing to modify it and this is the result:

[root at name25 dbus-python-0.82.0]# echo $PYTHONPATH
:/lib/python2.5/site-packages:/lib/python2.5/site-packages/GMenuSimpleEditor:/opt/gnome-2.20/lib/python2.5/site-packages:/opt/gnome-2.20/lib/python2.5/site-packages/GMenuSimpleEditor:/opt/gnome-2.20/lib/python2.5/site-packages:/opt/gnome-2.20/lib/python2.5/site-packages/GMenuSimpleEditor:/opt/gnome-2.20/lib/python2.5/site-packages:/opt/gnome-2.20/lib/python2.5/site-packages/GMenuSimpleEditor

Prepending /usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages fixes the issue, of course,
but I have no explanation as to why that is not in the default path, nor
why the path begins with a ':' character.
