So, if I want to remove this new redundant validation procedure
from my scripts, I need to change my validation procedure to create
this temporary file? I always validate before rendering, so there
is no need to do it twice.

My background is that *knowingly* leaving stale files in /tmp is
bad practice. To each his own, I suppose.
