Noted in the ProFTPD instructions:
--localstatedir=/var/run: This uses /var/run instead of /usr/var for lock files.
Does anyone use ProFTPD and can confirm that only lock files are being
installed in /var/run? There's a bug in BZ:
http://blfs-bugs.linuxfromscratch.org/show_bug.cgi?id=786 that mentions
pid files, but I don't know for sure.
If anyone can provide definitive information about this we should either:
1. Change the book to reflect "run-time variable data" instead of "lock
2. Change the localstatedir to /var/lock.
Additionally, it seems like the aforementioned bug could be closed fairly
easily if someone can provide information about what is being installed
