Ohhh, no, no, no.  :)
We use the PDC configuration for Samba because it's *harder*.  If you
don't need a PDC, just use the default smb.conf:
file:///usr/src/samba-2.2.7a/examples/simple/smb.conf

Perhaps a note about that should be added, though.
