Yep, I have tahoma and arial as my "standard" fonts and they are less 
jagged and more clear then with the bytecode interpreter. In fact, if 
you continue to use the bytecode interpreter, you will not see any 
difference with the MS fonts (at least not on my screen). In the KDE 
control center is a new option to define the mode for sub-pixel 
hinting; in its RGB mode it looks a lot like MS Clear Type but then 
less hard. Have a look at

Btw this is with bleeding-edge software; XFree86-CVS; KDE-3.1rc6. The X 
version also makes a difference in my experience.
