Discrepancies in Downloads

Sorry about the (usual) delay in responding, I've been on sabattical
from *LFS for a couple of weeks.

Seems to have been fixed now.

I *really* wish site maintainers wouldn't do that (wipe old versions as
soon as a new one is released).  I've checked and the book seems to be
up-to-date now (I altered the ncftp version entity, the download has
been change but the version hadn't).

I'm trying to decide whether we should fix these all up to be in the
same format.  The alsa one has now been changed when I did the rewrite
but I'm not sure about the rest.

Do people think we should (where possible) give direct download links?
Obviously for the Sun JDK it isn't possible as you have to agree to a
license etc.  But where it is, is it worth doing?
