I went to read the releases notes at this address, and was surprised:
"MariaDB 10.0 is the current development".

 Then went to

 and found:

MariaDB 5.5 is the current stable (GA) release of MariaDB. It is MariaDB
 5.3 + MySQL 5.5.
MariaDB 10.0 is the development version of MariaDB.

and "MariaDB 5.5.34 now available 21 Nov 2013".

 At "Distributions which Include MariaDB":

All seem to be using 5.5, including Arch Linux and Fedora.

I may have missed some discussion, but why have we chosen the beta
version, instead of the stable one? Would it be perhaps because we are
making a transition from MySQL and only later our packages will start
replacing it, and then MariaDB 10.0 will already be stable?
