Why was this done?

I'm not really in favor of changing author's code unless there is
really a reason to do it (makes something better, or fixes a problem).

In this case, I don't see any difference other than we changed it.
Take the python and python-2.5 files. Same thing but we don't change

I'd like to put it back the way it was unless there's some reason
to keep it a symlink.
