Just kidding, Dan. The estimated disk space is the entire build
tree before removal, and the space of the installed files. Bottom
line is it is the total amount of space one would need to build
the package (including anything produced in /tmp).

Some of these estimates are grossly wrong, and have been for some
time. Especially for the packages that haven't been updated for a
long time, there may be significant changes needed.
