The current description of alsaconf is:

alsaconf is a configuration tool which tries to detect the sound cards on your
system and write a suitable configuration file for ALSA.

Should be:

alsaconf is a useless program. It attempts to detect soundcards and write a
modprobe.conf file, but this file only works on systems that don't utilize
hotplug and udev.

Maybe it's better to explicitly remove this program.
