The changes in this release are as follows:
A vulnerability to buffer overflow in the progressive reader when it
encounters a malformed PNG datastream whose IDAT contains a larger
image than the dimensions given in the IHDR chunk has been fixed. A
"test-installed" target was added to the makefiles that build shared
libraries. Some memory leaks were plugged.

Project description:
libpng (PNG library) is a collection of routines used to create and
manipulate PNG format graphics files. The PNG format was designed as
a replacement for GIF and, to a lesser extent, TIFF, with many
improvements and extensions.
