Scripting some LFS steps?

I am working my way through the LFS book, and tried to make some simple
scripts because I plan to test this on multiple systems. On the 2nd pass of
GCC when I run "make -k check" from a sh script it stops with "Out of
memory". I have tried google, but nothing much has been a help. Manually
running the command run to completion, and if I exclude the "make -k check"
from my script the whole script will complete without any problems.

Thanks.
