   I have replaced jhalfs directory references with ${SCRIPT_ROOT} 
except for usage in the PACO patch (unfamiliar ground for me).
   NOTE: The variable substitution is done when the makefile is created 
and at runtime.

   Differences between LFS makefiles (before and after mod) are zero.
