jhalfs paco patch HLFS-uClibc bug tracing: Help needed

I've been trying to install HLFS-uClibc using the latest paco-patch, but
can't get past 072-uclibc.
It consistently bails out when LD_PRELOAD is set before the first 'make
install' command. I tried wrapping the install commands like 'paco -lD
make install' but the results were the same..
I'd be extremely happy if anyone could help figuring this one out.
Note: Paco-1.10.4 requires WORDEXP=y set in uClibc, which is not the
default in the config-patch for uClibc.

The output with LD_PRELOAD set:

<SNIP>
make[1]: Leaving directory `/sources/uClibc-0.9.28/librt'

Finally finished compiling ...
