It's also not necessary; <shell> is only needed if you want your ALFS 
tool to use a shell _other_ than /bin/sh to execute commands, and the 
official profile is just fine using /bin/sh for that. In chapter 5 
that's the host's /bin/sh, and in chapter 6 it's the bash that was built 
during chapter 5 (and no it's not statically linked, it's just a normal 
bash that was installed into /tools and then linked from /bin/sh to 
/tools/bin/bash).

<shell> was added at the request of a user who had a default shell on 
their system that didn't implement what they wanted, so they wanted to 
be able to override it in their profiles.
