I got through chap5, and when I started chap6, I got an error telling me that
localedef couldn't be found. I tracked the error back to the installation of
glibc, where I got this error in the configure step:

checking LD_LIBRARY_PATH variable... contains current directory
configure: error:
*** LD_LIBRARY_PATH shouldn't contain the current directory when
*** building glibc. Please change the environment variable
*** and run configure again.

configure stops after this error. It's fatal. But the profile doesn't stop,
and continues until it has completed all chap5. A number of other errors come
from this one.

I couldn't find any hints about the origin of the error.
