param* and order

The order in params only matters when an option has to be followed by a 
filename immediately ala patch -Np1 -i filename.patch

But there is a way around it: pipe the patch file into patch and there is no 
order to worry about anymore aka:
	patch -Np1 < file.patch

or something like: cat file.patch | patch -Np1
